Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009, Day 1 As announced by Mr. Alain Béthune, Director of Packaging Research, L’Oréal , the core theme of this 5th edition will be sustainable development and respect for the environment. Together with Mr. Charles Duclaux, Packaging & Environment Manager, DGO - Packaging L"ORÉAL, he will deal with the main challenges this raises for the Brands at the opening session. Indeed, it is a complex issue and it is important for the main protagonists to share a common language and suitable methods to assess and compare comparable things. The « Make-up » session will be chaired by Mr. Hervé Bouix, Corporate Vice President Packaging New Ventures & Special Projects, The Estée Lauder companies. The main innovations that will be presented will take account of the core theme « Sustainable development and respect for the environment » with, as announced, a special focus on the prospects of electro-beauty, following on the papers given by Pr Najet Yagoubi and Mrs. Véronique Liabeuf at the 2008 edition of PCD. This session will be followed by lunch, a privileged time for further meetings and discussions. The lay-out of the area is particularly conducive to visiting the booths for exchanges and additional information from exhibitors and speakers. The afternoon session will be chaired by Mr. Michel Dupuis, Senior Vice-President Packaging Purchasing and Development for the Bourjois & Chanel companies. Papers will take stock of the main innovations in perfume packaging: bottles, decoration and finishing techniques, dispensing systems, caps, secondary packaging, etc. The core theme will be the thread running through all the lectures. Wednesday, February 4th, 2009, Day 2 This second day will be devoted to packaging and dispensing systems for products in the following fields: hygiene, health, beauty, face and body care. Mrs. Osnat Lustig, VP Packaging Development, Coty Beauty, will chair the morning session and Mr. Jay Gouliard, Vice-president Packaging Design & Development, Unilever, will chair the afternoon session. He will describe the measures taken by his group in favour of sustainable development and respect for the environment; At noon, the « PCD Awards » ceremony, designed to reward packaging innovations for products placed on the European market between the 1st January and the 31st December 2008, will be held. The prizes are awarded by an independent jury comprising journalists and Perfumes & Cosmetics packaging experts. This year, there will be a special call for innovations in the area of sustainable development and electro-beauty. To present an innovation to the Jury of the PCD09 Awards, please mail to Oriex Communication, no later than the 12th November 2008, an A4 document explaining the innovations complete with samples.
